Before I begin with your research project, it’s important that you provide as much information as possible about your family history or the

specific person you're interested in. Birth dates and places, or locations where your ancestors lived and marriage dates and places are all crucial

details that help me get started.

Don’t forget to talk to your relatives — they might know valuable things that could help the research!

How I get started with your project - the exploring phase

My services begin with you getting in contact with me. If you want, we can also set up a Zoom meeting where we can talk about your questions. After the meeting I will start with the exploring phase. This phase will determine if your research questions can realistically be answered. 

Due to war, fire, and natural disasters, some church records may not have survived. Depending on availability, I may also need to travel to local archives. If this is the case, I’ll inform you at this stage. At the end of the exploration phase, I’ll provide you with a project plan along with a time and cost estimate. You will then need to approve this estimate in writing before research can begin.

If you wish to use my translation/transcription services, I’ll first need to assess whether your documents are legible. Based on that, I’ll provide a time and price estimate, which also needs to be approved in writing. This estimate can change during research and I will keep you updated. 

The research phase

Once the exploration phase is complete and you've given your approval, I will begin the research. My hourly rate during this phase is $50.

If anything changes during this phase that would increase the costs previously approved by you, I will let you know and we can discuss that specific case. 

Once the research is finished, your results will be presented as follows:

• Family tree
• Individual Sheets
• Family Group Sheets

• Transcriptions of your letters, including explanations of terms when needed

Genealogical Research - Basic, hourly rate $50

• I will explore your family’s history, uncover vital connections, and fill in the gaps of your ancestral story. This is my most popular service, focusing exclusively on your direct lineage, going back up to five generations.You’ll receive detailed information about your direct ancestors — including their birth, marriage, and death dates and locations. Upon request, information about siblings can also be included.

In-Depth Research per Ancestor, hourly rate $50

• Comprehensive research into the life of a specific ancestor — from birth to death — including important life events, relationships, and historical context.

Connecting with Relatives, hourly rate $50

• If you’ve already done some research and know where your long-lost relatives live but don’t know how to contact them, I can help locate and reach out to them, expanding your family network. Before establishing contact, I will have to verify your research.

Handwritten Document Translation, hourly rate $50

• Accurate transcription and translation of historical documents such as wills, church records, and personal letters.
